Filipinos are big fan of basketball. Filipinos love the excitement and adrenaline rush watching and cheering for their favorite team and player.
Here's the list of the 5 most remarkable PBA players of all-time:
1. Ramon "El Presidente" Fernandez - He was one of the pioneering stars of Philippine Basketball Association. This deadly one handed runner was unstoppable during his career. He was known to be a center, but he can play five positions in the court. He ended his PBA career with an astounding set of accomplishments. He won 19 PBA titles, became the league's all-time leader in scoring (18,996), second in assists (5,220), first in defensive rebounds (6,435), second in offensive rebounds (2,217), first in total rebounds ( 8,652), first in blocks (1,853), second in steals (1,302), first in minutes played (36,624). He's also a four time MVP, a 13 time Mythical Team member, and a six time All-Star.
2. Robert "The Living Legend" Jaworski - He won nine championships when he was with Toyota, with his best performance coming in 1978 when he won the PBA MVP honors in what many believe is the most dominating performance of any local player in the history of the league.
3. Alvin "The Captain" Patrimonio - He holds PBA records for the most consecutive games played (596), Third most points scored (15,091), fourth most rebounds (600+), and most PBA MVP awards won (4, tied with Ramon Fernandez). He spent his entire 16-year career in the PBA with one team alone; Purefoods.
4. William "Bogs" Adornado - He was one of the Philippine Basketball Associations first stars. He was the first ever awardee of the PBA Finals MVP and the first to win it two times in a row (75-76). He was also part of the Crispa Redmanizers team that became the leagues first Grandslam team. He was considered as one of the most promising PBA stars before he suffered a knee injury that would sideline him for almost two seasons. Feeling that he would not be able to return to his old self, Crispa released Adornado. He was then picked up by the U/Tex Wranglers where he played some of the best years of his career, including 1981 where he won the league MVP honors. Adornado registered 64, 54, 50, and most of his 40 point games with U/Tex, proving to everyone that he's still one of the best local scorers in the league.
5. Johnny "The Flying A" Abarrientos - He is one of the greatest point guards the PBA has ever seen. The 5'7 floor general led the Alaska Aces to nine championships, including a grandslam in 1996. He won the Best Player of the Conference and Finals MVP Award in 1996 while leading the Aces to three straight titles in the same year.
